Dagmar Serota founded Good Cents for Oakland in 2005 and serves, without compensation, as President and Executive Director. Dagmar received the Alameda County Food Bank’s Hope not Hunger award and the AT&T/Energy 92.7FM Community Spotlight Award for her work with Good Cents. Before founding Good Cents for Oakland, Dagmar worked in the financial services industry for 18 years in the areas of finance, administration and strategy. Dagmar is a member of the Oakland Rotary, serving on the Youth and Education Committee, an active volunteer at her son’s school and the captain of her neighborhood’s Home Alert group. She is a former director of East Bay Habitat for Humanity (now Habitat for Humanity East Bay). She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Economics from New York University and an M.B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley’s Walter A. Haas School of Business.
Lisa Edgar, Treasurer, is a founding board member of Good Cents for Oakland. Lisa is a Managing Director with Paul Capital Investments, a private equity fund of funds manager located in San Francisco, and has worked in the private equity industry for nearly 20 years. Lisa graduated with a bachelor’s degree in applied economics from the University of San Francisco and an M.B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley’s Walter A. Haas School of Business.
Tiffany Klein, Development Director, is an attorney with Kelly, Hockel & Klein, who specializes in civil defense litigation, with expertise in the areas of product liability, professional liability and personal injury/tort defense. A former member of the PTA Executive Board at Joaquin Miller Elementary School, she participates in a wide range of volunteer activities and community outreach at Joaquin Miller. Tiffany graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science from San Francisco State University and a law degree from Santa Clara University.
Andrea Muchin, Program Coordinator, is a former teacher of second, third and fourth grades in both Los Angeles and Basel, Switzerland. Andrea joined Good Cents for Oakland’s staff in 2006 where she has put her extensive classroom experience to work assisting with the design of the Penny Roundup Program and coordinating programs at local schools. A former member of the PTA Executive Board at Joaquin Miller Elementary School, she remains an active parent volunteer. Andrea graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English from UCLA and a teaching credential from CSU Northridge.
Gilbert Serota, Secretary, is a founding board member of Good Cents for Oakland. He currently serves as an Executive Board Member and Chair of the Anti-Defamation League’s Central Pacific Region’s Development Committee. Gilbert is a past Board Chair of the region and a member of the ADL’s National Commission. Gilbert is an attorney and partner with Howard, Rice, Nemerovski, Canady, Falk and Rabkin in San Francisco, where he specializes in securities, real estate and employment litigation. Gilbert graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and a law degree from Columbia University.
